About the College

The College of Central London is a private college of further and higher education, established in 1968 and celebrating 55 years’ service this year. We started small and rapidly grew and during the peak years in the late 1970's the college had more than 1000 students at any one time spread across a number of buildings including above the famous 100 club in Oxford street. Many Friday evening meetings were cut short by the jazz sounds drifting up from downstairs. We later consolidated in Tottenham Court Road staying there for 18 years before moving to Great Eastern Street near Old St. Since then we have moved a number of times, each occasion to a smaller property. We are now happy in our present modern building near the iconic Tower Bridge.

We offer a mix of courses in Facilities management, Business, Computing, Shipping and Logistics and Management, increasingly independent learners are looking for online or evenings and we have adapted to meet this challenge. All FM courses are in the evenings with some offered as in-house training. Computing and Business level 3, HND's are now offered by distance and blended learning. Currently Shipping and Logistics is only offered as classroom based.

Tutors are selected for their qualifications and practical experience to enable us to offer good quality, classroom-based teaching. This is also useful during skype sessions, tutorials and student support. We have a high success rate amongst those who complete a given course. Classes are small enough to enable tutors to related to students as individuals and large enough to create a vibrant atmosphere

The College of Central London was first inspected by the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and Higher Education in October and December 2004. BAC's inspectors reported on a satisfactory, good or excellent level of provision in all areas assessed during the inspection. They considered the college to be well-managed and well-resourced. There was a high standard of teaching and all staff showed good support for individual students and sensitivity to their language needs. Help with finding accommodation and general assistance in adapting to living in the UK was very thorough. The College of Central London was awarded accreditation in January 2005, as well as interim inspections after every move to new premises. A new accreditation inspection took place in March 2018. Accreditation has now lapsed.

As a private college we are able to control our own fee structure and it has always been our goal to offer students quality education at affordable tuition fees. By controlling our own fees we aim to give students value for money when selecting us as their place of learning.

Students used to come from all over the world as well as from the UK, but now with the realisation that the UKVI is prohibitively difficult to obtain a visa to UK, our focus is on UK and EU students make up the majority of the student fraternity. We hope to offer more online courses to offer international students an opportunity to acquire learning opportunities and obtain a recognised qualification they can use to further themselves.

The college is located just east of the financial hub of the City of London in the vicinity of Tower Bridge and not far from Tower Hill underground station. We arrange guided tours to special places of interest such as Parliament, the Law Courts and the Stock Exchange. Site visits have previously been arrnged to Sky headquarters, the Lloyds building and the National Archives.

Facilities at the college include areas where students can study or relax during their spare time in a break out area on the 5th floor. There is also a tea point on 3rd floor. Lending-library facilities are also available and students may borrow books to study at home.

We are available to help students with problems that arise during their studies and aim to build strong relationships with our students to encourage and maintain a pleasant ambiance. Many of our students return the following year to follow another course. Many more recommend their friends and relations to study with us.

I look forward to meeting you when you decide to study at the College of Central London.

Nicolas Kailides, Principal
