Institute of Workspace and Facilities Management Level 5 Certificate and Diploma

The Institute of Workplace and Facilities Management [IWFM].

Introduction

The College has an extensive track record in this field and provides the course through a team who have considerable subject, educational and industrial expertise.

The Level 5 programme is intended for professionals with several years’ fm experience who will normally have mid-management experience in a facilities management sector and wish to enhance their specialist and management skills. The structure complies with the requirements of the National Qualifications and Credit Framework and is made up of mandatory and optional units for either the Certificate or Diploma qualification. Assessment for these units is by written assignments.

Delivery

The delivery for the diploma programme will be over forty three weeks, one evening per week in four terms. There are lectures and workshop sessions as well as email support in the programme, shown overleaf. The course for the certificate programme could also extends over this period, but dependant upon the units selected, completion could vary to a period as short as twenty two weeks, 16 lectures and 6 workshops, one evening per week in two terms. These are interactive and lecturer led sessions, but learners are expected to share their experiences with the group. Whilst documentation will be provided, learners should purchase the books shown on the reading list, below. The Level 5 programme will normally be delivered on Tuesday evenings.

Study

Learners may need to develop new skills, such as analysis, communication and a range of presentation methods. The workshops will focus on both subject information and skills necessary to support the assignments. Attending all of the college sessions will generally not be adequate for individuals to complete the programme or units. Learners must expect to frequently allocate a significant amount of their own time in order to research, prepare, edit, finalise and submit assignments in order to be successful. Read more...

To achieve a Level 5 IWFM Diploma in Facilities Management, candidates will need to complete:

  • Mandatory units, having a credit total of 32
  • Optional units to reach the credit target of 16
  • To reach the overall credit target of 48

To achieve a Level 5 IWFM Certificate in Facilities Management, candidates will need to complete:

  • Mandatory units, having a credit total of 14
  • Optional units to reach the credit total of 10
  • To reach the overall credit target of 48

The maximum period of registration to complete either qualification is 15 months.
